A (big) Life Update

After 7 years of sharing our love for pastry with you, I have made the difficult decision to close both 17 Berkshire locations.

This is a decision that has been a long time coming and one I’ve wrestled with for years. As my kids get older, they need me in different ways than they did as children. I have tried to balance both bakery life and home life, but the reality is each role requires that I give so much of myself, both physically and mentally.

Ultimately, I need to make a decision to let the bakery go in order to raise my children in a way that I can be fully present. Our last day at both shops will be April 12th. In the meantime, we will have plenty of treats (and one final theme day) for you to enjoy 🤍 As for our beloved Midtown store, well, I am excited to announce that Jacques Louise Bakery has taken over the remainder of our lease.

Savannah was one of my very first customers, back when she and her husband were photographers.. circa 2015. I still remember meeting them for coffee at Porcellino’s, baby Yousif on my hip, trying to discuss custom chocolate bar options. Over the years, our friendship has grown and I’ve had the honor of watching Savannah start her own bakery, specializing in 100% gluten free breads and pastries. I know you will shower them with as much affection as you’ve shown us.

I’d like to say this isn’t the end for 17B. My goal is to still share my love of baking with you- whether it’s in pop up, cookbook, or some other form. I just know that right now, the storefront chapter must come to an end. Thank you all for the past 7 years. They were a dream come true 🤍

I just read your update and it was nice to see you share what’s been going on in your life — it feels really personal and relatable when someone opens up about changes they’re experiencing, especially the parts about how you’re navigating new routines and figuring out what’s next.
